Chola-era bronze idols of Nataraja, Sivakami unearthed at Nagapattinam
Excavations in Nagapattinam have uncovered two remarkable bronze idols from the 12th-century Chola period. The first, a striking Nataraja idol measuring 110cm, captures Lord Shiva in a dynamic dance. The second, an 82cm tall Sivakami idol, showcases elegance and serenity. Experts suggest these artifacts were hidden for protection during chaos. Presently, they are undergoing chemical treatments and metallurgical assessments to further analyze their material properties.
